As teams at GDS prepare to launch a refreshed brand for GOV.UK on 25 June, so the X-GOVUK community has been updating its projects in preparation for this go-live date.
A quick progress update covering what’s recently been added, what’s still missing and my longer term ambitions for the project.
I’ve been on a bit of a mission lately.
I made a thing; a small website to provide inspiration when naming things.
Introducing a plugin for the GOV.UK Prototype Kit that adds a helpful collection of Nunjucks template filters. Rapidly modify and transform data while ensuring it follows the GOV.UK style guide.
Indiekit is the little Node.js server with all the parts needed to publish content to your personal website and share it on social networks.

Returning to this project with a fresh perspective and desire to take a more managed approach to its development.
As the page turns on another year, just enough time to close the book on a few personal projects and responsibilities. In doing so, I hope to free up some time (and mind space) for new projects to be unveiled in the new year.
Barebones is an initial directory setup, style guide and pattern primer intended as a starting point for my own web development projects. I’ve made it available on GitHub so that others can use it in their own projects too. Anna has written more about the release here.
A follow-up on Hack The Planet, our hack day held in Birmingham last month.
I’ve finally released the long awaited update to my popular social media icon set adding 12 new icons and a few design tweaks for good measure.
I ended my review of 2009 promising to write more about green issues and how I plan to lessen my impact on the environment. Now I expand on those ideas further.
