Almost 3 years since it was first proposed, today the summary card officially became part of the GOV.UK Design System.

Many thanks to Paul Hayes, who helped conceive the original design, and to Tim, Chris, Calvin, Owen and others at GDS for shepherding this contribution through the approval process.

Right then, what’s next?

Controversial opinion but: I like Mastodon’s official clients! All that’s missing from the official iOS app is an edit function, otherwise it’s easy to use and far less fussier than Ivory, for one. As ever, I’m here for the default option.

Over the last few years, I’ve started following several channels on YouTube. I don’t subscribe to them. Instead, I manually search for each channel because I don’t want to sign into Google. The other day I wondered if I could subscribe to channels using RSS. It turns out that yes, you can! It’s not easy, but thankfully NetNewsWire does the hard work, so I only need to give it a channel’s URL. Perfect!

Is Tailwind not a euphemism for farting?

Have updated the introduction to Indiekit, detailing how it can be used to authorise applications, publish content and syndicate it to third-party websites.

Also works as a useful illustration as to why syndication remains the hardest part to get working faultlessly.

Finally got round to finishing Olympic Park: When Britain Built Something Big. The secret to getting something done in this country? Politicians working together, an immovable deadline and avoiding pointless distractions like the lighting for Barbara Windsor’s dressing room.

Open my front door to discover that something (or somebody?) has pooed on my doorstep.

Fond memories of travelling on Network SouthEast’s ‘slam-door’ trains in the late 80s and early 90s.

Now available for just £3 per square meter.

Not sure what to make of Empire of Light, but that my chief criticism is that the train seat moquette shown in one of the final scenes was not introduced until 1986, 5 years after the film was set, is probably a good indication.

ABBA Voyage. No smoke but plenty of mirrors… lasers, LEDs, LCDs, 3D, ray-traced CGI, mixed reality and every other conceivable trick to manipulate 16 million colours, all in service of creating the best disco on Earth. I loved every luminescent, iridescent, psychedelic minute!
